about

Another track from the dead World@Night project with Shawn Brice. This was supposed to be the final track on the album, hence the 9 million minute long ambient tail. (How quaint! An album! Shows you how long ago this project was conceived. I think Shawn sent me the first sketch in 2003.)

Shawn hates this mix--too many guitars--but this was my white whale, and I was going to harpoon that shit before I died, come hell or high water. 135 tracks. Crazy.

He also hates this song. Says it's a dirge. It *is* a dirge. Deal, dude.

...and like it or not, now it's in the wild.

lyrics

DEEPER SEA

so it comes down to one final day
and the moment when we said goodbye
to this place we once thought we'd found truth
--a long hallway lit by the sky

we sailed
with the innocence of sleep
so sure
of the promises we'd keep
we sailed
with innocence of sleep
as we crossed
our deeper sea

so it comes back to one single day
we're returning to where it begins
to the hallway so clear in our minds
aching to find our way in

we sailed
with the innocence of sleep
so sure
the promises we'd keep
we sailed
with innocence of sleep
as we crossed
our deeper sea
